What to Expect from Counselling at Centered Wellness
Starting therapy is a big step, and it’s natural to wonder what to expect. At Centered Wellness, our focus is on creating a comfortable and supportive space where you can reconnect with your authentic self.
Here’s what a typical session looks like:
Your first session is all about getting to know each other. We’ll discuss your past experiences, what brought you to counselling, and what you hope to achieve. There’s no pressure to share everything right away—it’s about understanding how to best support you in uncovering the answers already within you.
From there, each session will begin with a quick check-in. You’ll have the opportunity to share what’s been on your mind, and we’ll decide together what to focus on. At Centered Wellness, we believe you hold the answers within yourself. Our work together is about understanding and shifting the life events or experiences that have created obstacles, so you can reconnect with your center and live from your most authentic self.
We use a blend of therapeutic approaches like IFS, CBT, DBT, and Somatic practices, all tailored to support you in reconnecting with your inner wisdom. These methods help you understand your emotions, heal past wounds, and develop healthy coping strategies. You’ll also receive practical tools and education to empower you throughout your journey.
Your involvement is key. While I may suggest exercises or techniques, you always have the choice to reflect and decide what resonates with you. Journaling or taking time after sessions to reflect is encouraged, but it’s entirely up to you. This process is about helping you rediscover your strength and wisdom.
All sessions are online, providing you with the flexibility to connect in a space where you feel comfortable. Throughout our work together, we’ll check in on your progress and make sure the pace feels right for you, always in alignment with your goals.
